Covid 19 Emergency

The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic are unprecedented and SRDO are responding in a variety of ways to meet community need. Amid school closures and economic uncertainty, a rapidly increasing number of people are facing food insecurity. In response, hundreds of Ys nationwide are providing free grab-and-go meals to help address this serious issue.

SRDO is committed to achieving the health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDG) which include affirming the right to good health and providing adequate food for all. SRDO plans to do this by supporting the development of sustainable healthcare systems in the areas where we work.

WATER AID

It’s easy to forget how vital water is to our lives. It’s also easy to forget that in some parts of the world, having access to tap water is a luxury. SRDO provides clean, safe water to disadvantaged communities in the country. We look for the most effective way to source water in any given location, and then we work to get the water to those in need.

EDUCATION

SRDO particularly focuses on improving education to access to girls, orphans and children from poor families. Millions of women and girls living in the developing world do not have access to this basic right. By removing the barriers to education we can help girls prepare for the future, training .

EMERGENCY SUPPORT

Fighting poverty is never more difficult than in times of crisis. Disasters and conflict disrupt the lives of more than 500 million people every year. SRDO works has supported projects in the country, so we are able to respond to emergencies fast and make sure help gets to where it is needed most.

LIVELIHOOD

Rebuilding livelihoods and restarting economic activity is a critical component for disaster-affected families as they restart their lives. Without support for livelihoods or widespread economic recovery, the economy of a community remains reliant on handouts and can stagnate for years following a disaster. Helping families rebuild their livelihoods through short-term employment or longer-term vocational training,

CHILD CARE

Child care and early learning programs at the SRDO focus on holistically fostering the physical, social and emotional development of kids of all ages, from infants to school-aged children. At the SRDO, kids will learn more about their world, develop healthy relationships with adults and other kids, build self-reliance, get help with their schoolwork and more — all in a safe, nurturing environment.
